To be a leader, one had to be very well-tempered and very good at listening. One did not want to get mad at the people of the tribe for stating there ideas about what would be best to do. One always wanted to keep your cool no matter what. If their leader seemed worried or all sturred up then the people of the tribe might start freaking out. One would have to make the big decisions for the group. "The vast cherokee nation was governed by a central body. In turn, each village had its own goverment patterened after the nations. Every village had a cheif: 2 men, known as the right hand man and the speaker, helped him rule."( The Cherokee. Elaine Landau) The leader had to have a good system set up when it comes to controlling the tribe. They had to know all of the launguages. Many knew that one of the biggest problems they had was getting people to listen. The leader of the tribe would have to have to tell the people of his/her tribe what to do and how to do it. Sometimes the tribes would be so big that they would have to divide them up into groups. There was more than one leader. 'There were 2 Chiefs.'Then next to them there were 6 other men lead by the right hand man.during peacetime these men conducted cerimones, held courts , and made laws'.(the Cherokees. by Elaine Ladau) During the peacetime these other six men would be in charge of the courts and helped made the laws.

Leadership back then was a lot more set up than it is today. The Native American leaders were very good at keeping up on things. An example is that they would lead a whole group and help everyone out. Well now days it seems like are great leaders that we used to have dispapered. It was so well in order then and they tried to make everyone happy. Now days you have people fighting over something when they can try to make it fit everyones needs. I think that the leadership back then was alot better than it is today. The leadership back then was very difficalte, but the great leaders of those tribes(Cherokee, ,Omaha ana Yana) made it threw it. They might have had to learn alot of stuff and make some tuff decisions they still made it. To this day some people still use those great ideas on leadership. Even some of are best leaders to this day do.
